Who are your clients?

Milena Distinctive Image Consulting's clients are everyday men, women and teens who:

  • Want to refresh or update their look and wardrobe
  • Want to learn style tips to be modern, stylish and confident
  • Do not like or do not have time for shopping
  • Desire a polished appearance to achieve their career goals
  • Require a new wardrobe due to weight gain/loss, pregnancy

Do you work with men?  

Yes! Men are some of our best clients.  Men are equally excited about defining their personal style, seeing what is and isn't working in their closet and shopping with someone who will open their eyes to new styles and stores.  Men tend to be more systematic, so they appreciate the Style Assessment portion where they learn the theories and reasoning behind what enhances and what hinders their style.  Single men often want the feminine perspective as they look to attract that special someone.  On the other hand, married men tend to receive fashion suggestions from their significant other as "nagging", but recommendations from a style expert as professional advice.

Do you work with teens?

Yes!  Imagine if you had learned how to dress as a teen!  Teens face a lot of peer pressure in terms of appearance and dress.  Clothing is often how they express their personality.  I help teens find appropriate ways to do this while teaching shopping and style tips that will be invaluable to them for the rest of their lives.

I live outside of Colorado, can you help me?

Our clients span the globe - from Denmark to Denver!  Clients can come to us, consult with us online or have us come to you!  Additional travel fees apply.  Contact us for a quote!

Do you charge by the hour?

We do not charge by the hour, but rather by the service or package.  This allows us to truly help each client and meet their goals without the pressure of time looming over us while we work.  We do not ever want to leave an appointment without the job completed.  If you have unusual circumstance, i.e. four closets packed with clothes, then we do have an additional per hour charge. We have an approximate time allowance for each appointment to help both us and the client with scheduling.  We have found that these times are appropriate for most clients:

  • Style Assessment:  2 Hours
  • Wardrobe Audit:  4 Hours
  • Personal Shopping:  4 Hours plus Pre-Shop (Included in fee)
  • Special Occasion Shopping:  2-3 Hours, plus Pre-Shop

What is the difference between the Personal Shopping and the Shopping By the Hour?

The Personal Shopping is great for people looking for a new wardrobe or transformation of any sort.  The Shopping by the Hour is more for clients who need to just grab a few specific items. - a bathing suit for a vacation, a gift, a suit for an interview, etc.    

I am unsure if I want the whole package, is there a way for me to try your services before committing to the whole package?

We would recommend starting with the Style Assessment which is a one-on-one personalized session where we define your personal style and you learn many of the tips and secrets to have you looking your best.  After the Style Assessment, if you are satisfied, we will allow you to apply the cost of the Style Assessment towards any package.  

I want to give your services as a gift, will the recipient be offended?

Absolutely not.  In our experience, clients who have received our services as a gift are excited about having an expert to help them refresh their look.  Many women in particular, have the desire to be on a makeover show much like the show "What Not To Wear".  They often rave about how much fun it is to see what someone else would pick out for them, to try on things they wouldn't have otherwise picked out, or to shop at new stores they wouldn't have otherwise shopped at.  

When do your gift certificates expire?

Gift Certificates expire within six months of purchase, unless other arrangements have been made.

I received a gift certificate, however I still have a few pounds to lose before I go shopping, what should I do?

Gift certificates expire within six months of purchase.  If you have not reached your weight loss goals within this time frame, please call us to make specific arrangements.  In addition, I encourage clients in any major weight loss program to discuss with me appropriate dressing strategies to keep them motivated and feeling good throughout their weight loss journey.  

Do I  need a Style Assessment if I'm doing the Wardrobe Edit and Personal Shopping?

A Style Assessment is not necessary but highly recommended.  The style assessment is really where you learn the skills to shop smarter and dress yourself in a flattering way.  Rather than just having us tell you what works and doesn't work in your wardrobe or during shopping, you will have learned many of the "whys" behind our observations so you can start recognizing the "do's" and "don'ts" yourself.  

I need help with my hair, will you provide me with hair advice?

During the Style Assessment we will talk about your hair and we will recommend cut, color and style.  We will refer you to a stylist to ensure you get the best haircut and color.  All clients receive 25% off their first cut and color.  If you would like me to accompany you on a consultation, I will do that for an additional fee of $40.    

How much money should I plan on spending for a shopping trip with you?

There is no minimum amount required for clients to allocate for shopping.  Clients spend anywhere from $500 to over $15,000 in a single shopping trip with us.  Regardless of the budget, we will pull a large selection of clothing for each person so you have a lot of options to meet your needs.  Together we determine the best selections to fit you and your budget.  You are under no obligation to buy anything, but that is not usually the concern as most of our clients love more than they can afford.  Instead, we often find ourselves helping our clients narrow down their selections to meet their desired budget.  

What stores do you shop at?

We select the stores based on what each person needs in terms of style, budget and location.  

Do you earn a commission off my purchases?

No, we do not earn a commission on any purchases.  We want our clients to be confident that all recommendation are unbiased and based on what truly makes them look their best.  

I'm sick of shopping at the mall, will you shop at boutiques?

Yes!  We find that some clients prefer to shop in boutiques or are intimidated by boutique shopping and want to try it out.  Please keep in mind that boutique shopping takes more time than mall shopping because of the travel time required between stores.  

I only shop at discount stores such as Ross, will you shop at these stores for me? 

Unfortunately, we do not shop at discount stores.  It is very time consuming to shop at these stores because you must "dig" to find the true bargains, so it is not a good use of our time.  However, your budget is an important part of how we chose the stores we shop at and the items then we chose. We often find sale items at the stores we shop.      

My friend and I would like to do this together, can we have joint appointments?

Yes!  We offer Group Style Assessments!  Group Style Assessments are a fun way to discover or redefine your style with a friend or family member!   

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel an appointment, please call us directly at (303) 585-0589.  Cancellations are accepted 24 hours or more prior to your schedule appointment.  

What is your return policy?

Gift certificates can be exchanged for other services, but are not redeemable for cash.  We do not give refunds.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We prefer cash or check, but we gladly accept Visa, MC, Amex, and Discover  

I'm ready to book, what do I do now?

Please call or email us to schedule your appointment. 

How soon can I get in?

Availability is constantly fluctuating, but it is best to plan at least two weeks out.  Evenings and weekends fill up first.  If you are available during the week day, there are typically more times available.  Do not assume availability, please call us directly to request a time.  

What are your hours of operation?

Monday - Thursday: 9:00am - 8:00pm.  Friday:  9:00am - 6pm.  Saturday & Sunday 10am - 6pm
